Blanchards Bailey gives local businesses insight into employment law
Local Dorchester businesses and professionals gathered for a breakfast seminar on 'Getting HR right' at The Gamekeeper Dining House in Charminster on Tuesday 7th June.
The event was organised by the Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and began with a presentation from Edward O'Brien, Solicitor and specialist in litigation and employment at Blanchards Bailey.
Edward talked about 'recent lessons from the Employment Tribunal,' bringing attendees up to speed with the latest HR regulations in the UK.
His talk included insights such as how to avoid ex-employees competing with your business, how to react when an employee calls in sick under false pretences and staff handbook pitfalls.
Delegates at the event were also given the chance to discuss the topic at two networking sessions and a breakfast buffet following the seminar.
After his presentation, Edward said: "The event was a great opportunity for us to meet local professionals. Whether they had HR queries or just a general interest in the subject, they were able to come along and have their questions answered.”
Jane Eldridge, HR Manager and consultant, said; “Employment law and HR advice are vital for businesses, so we were really pleased to be able to share some advice with the business leaders of Dorset.”
