Principals attend private view of Speed to the West at Dorset County Museum
Blanchards Bailey Principals, Paul Dunlop and Merlin Lewis were invited to attend the private preview of the Speed to the West – A nostalgic journey, art exhibition at the Dorset County Museum on Friday, 18th March.
The exhibition features over 50 famous examples of railway posters which capture the golden age of travel, and transport you back to a time of steam engines, old fashioned bathing suits, sunny beaches and the gentle clinking of boats in harbours.
The works of art were created between 1916 and the 1970s and their aim was to encourage holiday makers to escape the humdrum of every day life and travel by train to the resorts, towns and countryside of the west country.
Commenting on the exhibition, Paul Dunlop said: “The posters really are fantastic and they provoke many nostalgic travel memories.
“The exhibition goes a long way in showcasing just how steeped in history Dorset is. I feel lucky to live and work in this special place and we’ve had a terrific evening.
The exhibition Speed to the West: A nostalgic journey will be at Dorset County Museum from Saturday 19th March 2016 to Saturday 7th January 2017.
